Community Service and Awards Top Knight Group's Early 2004 Accomplishments

April 2, 2004

If good people always produced good news, and good news was good for newspapers, The Knight Group, Inc. would be in the newspapers all of the time--so far this year for The Knight Group, Inc. (TKG):

  • The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has continued to support its Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with TKG by serving up task orders drawing the firm's personnel to Eastern Europe.

  • Electronic Data Systems (EDS) recently signaled its intent to extend its U.S. Treasury-sponsored Mentor-Protégé Agreement with TKG through December 2004. The mutually beneficial relationship buttresses TKG's interest in participating in large, complex Federal contracts.

  • The Baltimore-Washington Corridor Chamber of Commerce recently honored TKG President Richard Knight with its President's Award in recognition of Mr. Knight's efforts on behalf of the chamber and surrounding business community.

Walt Townshend, President of the Corridor Chamber, noted of The Knight Group, "The writer, Warren Bennis, said, 'Leaders must encourage their organizations to dance to forms of music yet to be heard.' This organization is represented in no less than four committees within the Chamber. Whether it's Procurement, Government Affairs, the Business Information Council or a Homeland Security Forum, this group--led by this MBA from the Darden School of Business--takes the lead, helps us keep a sense of humor and truly helps us dance to forms of music yet to be heard."

Mr. Knight serves as co-chair of the chamber's Economic Development Committee (EDC) and guides the development of close to half a dozen EDC conferences and workshops annually.

  • The Board of the New Carrolton Boys and Girls Club recently elected Richard Knight as the club's president. Mr. Knight has coached the club's soccer program for more than seven years, served also as Athletic Director, Registrar, and Vice President, and he has been a member of the board for eight years. The organization provides athletic and leisure activities for close to 300 children and their families.
The Knight Group, Inc. provides business development and management services to government agencies and private organizations throughout the Baltimore-Washington region.
